EPA?S Criminal Investigation DivisionThe Criminal Investigation Division (CID) investigates allegations of criminal wrongdoing prohibited by various environmental statutes. Such investigations involve, but are not limited to, the illegal disposal of hazardous waste; the illegal discharge of pollutants to a water of the United States; the illegal discharge of pollutants into a publicly owned treatment works; the removal and disposal of regulated asbestos containing materials in a manner inconsistent with the law; the illegal importation of certain restricted or regulated chemicals into the U.S.; tampering with drinking water supplies; mail fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering relating to environmental criminal activities. CID Special Agents are sworn federal law enforcement officers with statutory authority to conduct investigations, carry firearms, make arrest for any federal crime and to execute and serve any warrant.
